Live night again

8th February 2008

Today we went to some live show. We didn't know who was going to play that night but we decided to go because it was cheap. When we arrived there we were really surprised because there was nobody except us and the band member.

When the show started, there was one cute girl on stage and she said her friends were not coming so she prepared some karaoke to sing... but she sang just one song. I was really disappointed!! But the live was getting better and better as it went on, so when the live show finished i was quite satisfied. The last band National Pigeon Unity were especially exceptional!

Happy lunar new year

My friend Will lives in Korea but he lives outside of Seoul, so I haven't seen him for over 3 months. Finally I met him today. Since we have new years holiday for 5 days he came up to Seoul. In the evening with some other friends we hit a bar and enjoyed each others company.

We planed to go Donald's aunties house on new years day. If we were to go we needed to get up at 6 o'clock in the morning but we drank and chatted till 5 o'clock so after falling asleep we couldn't wake up one hour later... I was sad to miss the traditional ceremony.

Ski trip

Last weekend I went skiing with Donald, Richard, Scott and Gyoungmi in Yong-Pyoung. I was a little nervous since I hadn't skied for over 10 years. However after a few practice runs, I soon got into a good flow. After a fun day of skiing we stayed overnight in a town just a bus ride away from the resort. We killed time in the evening with a few hands of poker and some drinks. I won the poker game and collected the pot! That's a first for me.


The next day we woke up a little late and rushed down to the slopes. It wasn't as much fun as the first day but nevertheless I had a good day.

Dead Hongdae

From tomorrow I have 5 days holiday because Korea follows the lunar calendar. We can celebrate new years again! Since we have no work tomorrow we decided to head down to Hongdae to dance the night away. However, we hit up a club only to find an empty dance floor. We were thinking that since that since tomorrow is a holiday people would be partying tonight. I guess we thought wrong. We even hit up a few popular bars to find the same lifeless atmosphere. Giving up we returned home. Now I am sitting here writing this entry and not partying. I guess everyone is already departing for their home towns or didn't want to travel with a hangover in the morning. Sucks for me.

It snowed a lot. I was surprised when I woke up!

12th January 2008
I was killing some time in Hongdae campus park waiting to go to a gig. The snow from the day before was frozen so the park still had that winter wonderland feeling. The pond was iced over too. The only colours in the park came from some lonely berries barely hanging on to their branches.



After a bite to eat Richard and I went to a gig he was writing a report for. Hardcore is not usually my kind of music on record but watching it live is quite interesting. People were jumping around swinging their arms, crazy kids in animal costumes moshed in the centre and the bands tore it up!



14th January 2008
I received a parcel from my mum and dad. It contained a lot of Japanese food and a cute pair of leather converse. Actually, at first, I didn't realise I got a gift or two because Donald and Richard tore open the box and raided it for the food while I was engrossed in a game. My mum sent them their favourite Japanese food and some Japanese facial care products.

17th January 2008
My friend Li-Young is currently working in a bar in Shinchon. We rolled on down there to see what she is up to and to check the bar out. The bar was called Good Bar and is a little dank. However, the walls are covered with an interesting photo display and the cocktails came in interesting glasses. We chatted with Li-Young and the bar owner for a couple hours over a few drinks.



20th Janaury 2008
A few of us headed to Richard and Donald's apartment for a few rounds of poker. I wasn't sure of the rules but quickly got into the game. We ate some home made food and drank various liquors. Even though I didn't win either of the two friendly games we played, it was still a fun night.

Asaminja returns

Asaminja is back! I'm planning to start writing a little everyday. Firstly I'll catch up on the last few days.

Today was super foggy. When I woke up I was really surprised because I couldn't see anything outside. I could see just a white world. Anyway, it was the first time I've seen heavy fog.

Today I went to a new Japanese restaurant which was called Fugetsu with Richard and Donald. We ate okonomiyaki. It's Japanese style pizza. Even though Donald said the sauce was too salty, it was still delicious for me.

Today I made an armchair for a cuddly toy. Before I made the chair he was always stretched out on a whiskey box. He seems happy now that he has a place to sit.

After 3 months in Korea I returned to Japan with Richard. I wanted to take Richard sightseeing but it was hard to find anywhere to go because there isn't really much to see. Anyway we went to a theme park called Space World and a dinosaur museum. Actually both of them are really for children but Richard's mental age is similar to a child so it made sense to go and he seemed to enjoy it! hehe. It was complicated to decide what to eat because Richard can't eat meat, raw fish, squid, octopus and everything he thinks he can't eat because of how it looks (because he is child hehe). Because of him I couldn't eat my favourite sushi and yakiniku. Boo! But it was nice to go back home with someone than going back alone (and we did find some nice food that we could both eat hehe). Also I did realise that my town has some nice things like the dinosaur museum. I really didn't notice it before. Also my home town friends were doing well. Next time when I go back to Japan I want to go to karaoke.


３ヶ月ぶりに日本に帰ってきた。今回はリチャードと一緒。とりあえず観光しないと！・・・ということで無い観光名所を無理やり探して『スペースワールド』『恐竜博物館』に行ってきた。どちらもお子様用の場所のような気もするけど、もともと精神年齢が子供並みの彼は楽しんでくれているようだった。
今回一番大変だったのが『食事！！』　なにせリチャードは（お子様だから）肉・生魚・イカ・ﾀｺ・その他見た目が好きじゃないものは一切食べない!!　おかげでせっかく日本にいるのに大好きなお寿司も焼肉も食べれなかった・・・ありえない!!!　怒
でも一人で帰るより２人で帰った方が遥かに楽しいし、北九州の新たな魅力にも気づくことができて良かった。友達もみんな元気そうだったし♪　今度日本に帰ったらカラオケに行きたいな～

From the 1st of September it was birthday week so I had to spend a lot of money on presents and drinking at the parties.
In Korea if it's your birthday you have to... drink a special drink! What is a special drink? Well let me tell you! It's made from beer, soju, meat, vegetables, fruit, cake etc all mixed together. One year ago my friend had to drink the most disgusting special drink. It included dried scalp, spit, natto (a Japanese food that looks disgusting and is made from gone off beans) and dirt from inside a shoe all mixed in with wine, beer and whiskey. Eww! Special drinks are not just a pint glass full but a large bowl full! Yet they have to drink all! Double eww!

９月の前半は『バースデーウィーク 』だった。プレゼント代と飲み代でエンゲル係数が・・・・。韓国で誕生日と言えば？・・・そう恒例のスペシャルドリンク！！！スペシャルドリンクとは簡単に言えばミックスしたお酒。でもこれがただのミックスではなく、なんでもアリのミックス！例えば、ビール・焼酎・果物・肉・野菜　など、そこにあるものすべてをミックス。１年間にやったミックスは史上最悪で、髪のふけ・唾液・納豆・靴の中のごみをビール・ワイン・ウィスキーにミックス・・・。しかも量がハンパ無いから一発でノックダウン。でもみんな最後まで飲むからすごい！
